Eva Claire Craddock Benada Marcantel, 84, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away December 28, 2013. She was born in Lake Charles, LA, graduated from St. Charles Academy, and attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, TX. Eva had a career as a medical receptionist in Louisiana, North Carolina, and in Palm Harbor, FL. She had a passion for reading, traveling, card games, and family. Eva is pre-deceased by husbands, Claude W. Benada, Sr. and Charles M. Marcantel; her son, Claude W. Benada, Jr.; a sister, Sister Claire Eileen Craddock; a brother, Samuel Harris Craddock, Jr.; and parents, Samuel, Sr. and Claire Craddock. Eva is survived by her daughter, Cherie Gaynor of Clearwater, FL; sons, David (Virginia) Benada of Lake Charles, LA, and Dan (Joy) Marcantel of Winston Salem, NC; a sister, Jean Frances Craddock of Safety Harbor, FL, who has since passed away; and grandchildren, Steven (Rachel) Gaynor of Portland, OR, Jessica Benada of Lake Charles, LA, Danielle Marcantel of Winston Salem, NC, Charlie Marcantel of Winston Salem, NC, and John (Jeanine) Coffman of Lake Charles, LA. She is also survived by extended family and friends. A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin in the church on Thursday at 1:00 PM until the start of the service. Burial of cremated remains will take place in Graceland Cemetery following mass.
