Eva LaGrange Carter Ortego Williams, 101, of Lake Charles, La died at 7:05 AM on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in her daughter's residence.
Mrs. Williams was born February 7, 1911 in Lake Charles, LA, where she was a lifelong resident. She worked for Borden's and Runte Lake Cleaners for a number of years before she worked out of her residence as a seamstress. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and was member of AARP. She enjoyed Cajun music, cooking, and sewing, and loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughter, Lois Thibodeaux and husband Jimmy of Lake Charles; son-in-law, L. J. Daigle; grandchildren, John Wells and Janet Wells, Pam Wells and Steve Messer, Matt Wells and Jeannie Wells, and Albert Daigle and Kristie Daigle; great-grandchildren, Leslie Wells, Ryan Wells, Jessica Wells, and Lauren Daigle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buan Williams; son, Bert Carter; daughter, Geneva Daigle; great-grandchild, Brennen Daigle; parents, Francis and Necess Ogea LaGrange; brothers, John LaGrange, Nolan LaGrange, Gibs LaGrange, and baby Paul; and sisters, Agnes Saucier, Lizzie Brooks, Edna Derouen, Ada David, and Narcess LaGrange.
Her funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
