Eva Marie Jackson Zumalt

December 1, 1927 — January 25, 2013

Eva Marie Jackson Zumalt, 85, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 in the comfort of her home.


Mrs. Zumalt was born, raised and educated in Anthony, KS. She lived a very colorful life as she followed her husband, as a Preacher's wife throughout seven States, having made their home in Lake Charles 15 years ago, following seven years of residing in DeQuincy. She was a loving wife and mother, faithful to her family and church. Mrs. Zumalt was an avid reader. She authored a book, My Adventures as a Preachers Wife. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and craft work. She loved to make people laugh with her witty sense of humor.


Mrs. Zumalt was a soft spoken woman of few words whom when speaking, spoke volumes.


She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Darrell Zumalt and wife Berta of Pasadena, TX, David Zumalt and partner Willis Walley of New Orleans, Steven Zumalt and wife Peggie of Cabot, AR, Marcelyn Swire and husband Wilson of Lake Charles and Faith Ruminer of Cabot, AR; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Reverend Robert H. Zumalt; parents, John and Anna Chronister Jackson; one brother, Alva Jackson and her beloved sister, Lucy Storm.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Vinton under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Gerald Little will officiate. Internment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
