Evana Hamilton Young, 93, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at a local care facility. Mrs. Young was born October 11, 1920 in Grant, LA. She worked as a seamstress at The Fair Store, did home alterations for years, making a number of dresses for her family. She was a member of Lake Charles Bible Church for over forty years. Her passion in life was for her family, her church, and serving the Lord. She never met a stranger and was always helping others. Mrs. Young is survived by her sons, Ronald L. Young of San Antonio, TX, Dwight G. Young and wife Barbara of Lake Charles, and Robert L. Young of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Douglas Chandler and wife Sherie of Sulphur, Dae Knighton and husband Matt of Sulphur, Thomas Allen Young and wife Krista of Albany, LA, and Apryl Landry and husband Coty of Ragley; and seven great-grandchildren, Kameron, Kara, Jordyn, Jacob, Bryson, Braylee and Jaci; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Bufford "BG" Gay Young; parents, Daniel and Allie Collins Hamilton; sister, Ruby Hamilton; brothers, Daniel Earl Hamilton and Elwyn Lester Hamilton; and grandchild, Lisa Renee Chandler. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Phil Carpenter and Don Barrett will officiate. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery in Grant, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. Memorial donations can be made to Lake Charles Bible Church.
