Evelyn G. Williams

Evelyn G. Williams, 66 departed this life on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in a local hospital.

A resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana she was a graduate of W.O. Boston High School and McNeese State University. Evelyn was employed by Calcasieu Parish School Board. for over 30 years. She was a teacher at Washington Marion Magnet High School and A.M. Barbe High School and an educator for over 30 years. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Sisters Surviving, and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Evelyn served as a musician for various churches in Sulphur and Lake Charles, Louisiana most recently Woodbury Congregational Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Valencia Williams (Osiola) Henderson of McKinney, Tx., Shalon Williams of Lake Charles, La. and Shanika Williams (Jerrod) Green of Darrow, La.; two sisters, Bernice George Jones and Rose Marie Sias of Lake Charles, La.; three grandchildren, Briauna Williams, Isaiah Henderson, and Jourdyn Green; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvenia and Phillip George Sr., two brothers, Phillip George Jr. and Thomas Williams and one sister, Millie Johnson.

Her funeral will be at 4pm Friday April 26, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. E.L. Garner will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2013 2pm-4pm at the church.
