Evelyn Seamons

December 19, 1928 — October 23, 2011

Evelyn Seamons, 82, died peacefully in her sleep on October 23, 2011. She was a native of Florence, South Carolina, but made Lake Charles her home for most of her life.

Evelyn was met at the gates of heaven by her husband, Kenneth Clay Seamons; parents, Thomas Hinkle Grimsley and Eunice Bradford Jenkins; and grandson, John Ryan Rentrop. Kenneth Seamons was her loving and devoted husband of 38 years.

Because of her love for young children, she taught pre-school at First Methodist School for 26 years.

Her family and friends celebrate her passing with memories of her life filled with love, wit, compassion, religious devotion and fondness for poetic expression. Evelyn had numerous friends throughout the United States whom she cherished and with whom she communicated through her thoughtful letters. She was a life-long member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are sons, Robert Edens, Jr. (Patricia) of Lake Charles and Thomas Edens of Houston; daughters, Linda Smith (Ronald) and Debra Edens, both of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Sarah Edens, Marissa Kokhanovsky (Andy), Jared Edens (Erin), Alison Rentrop, and Zachary Smith; great-grandchildren, Ella Rentrop, Ana Kokhanovsky and Audrey Edens; and long-time cherished friends, Ray and Aline Goudeau.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Karl Klaus will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time.
