Evelyn Simon

Evelyn Simon, 89, of Lake Charles, LA passed on Saturday, May 28, 2016 in her residence surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Evelyn was born on July 12, 1926 in Mermentau, LA to Dave and Maggie Moore. She was the manager for 18 years of CitCon Credit Union. She enjoyed dancing with her husband and camping with family. Playing cards with Ms. Rose and friends at Villa Maria was one of her favorite activities. Evelyn was also known to be an accomplished seamstress. Her passion was politics. She helped run political campaigns including Edwin Edwards, running the local judicial district for him. More than anything, she loved her family and treasured her siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory is one daughter, Nancy Simon Sylvester of Lake Charles, LA; two brothers, Carroll Moore of Sulphur, LA and Larry Moore and wife Shirley of Jennings, LA; three sisters, Shirah Kilpatrick and husband Tommy of Jennings, Helen Strawn and husband, Robert of Covington, LA, and Glenda Conner of Gretna, LA; two grandsons, Justin Sylvester and wife Meghan of Austin, TX and Joey Sylvester and wife Melissa of New Orleans, LA; and three great grandchildren, Lily, Ruby June, and Chloe.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Mynes J. Simon; son, James Alan Simon; and sister, Betty Payne.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31st 2016 at Noon at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the start of service on Tuesday.
