Faye Elaine Herpin Sedotal, of Lake Charles, died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital. Mrs. Sedotal was born in Church Point on April 12, 1945. She was raised in the community of Bosco near Mire, Louisiana. Faye was a graduate of Rayne High School. She met Michael in 1969 while working as a Title Clerk in Lafayette. They were married on April 7, 1972 and moved to Lake Charles shortly thereafter. Mrs. Sedotal worked for the Diocese of Lake Charles for 24 years. Faye was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church where she served as a Lector. They later moved south of town and became members of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and French music. She was past president of De Club du Lac Chas for many years. Faye held many offices with the group. She and her husband were host families for twenty-five years to numerous French teachers arriving in Lake Charles to work for the Calcasieu Parish School Board. The teachers were from France, Belgium and Canada who were recruited through the CODOFIL program. Faye was loved by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 42 years and 3 days, Michael B. Sedotal; one son, Sean Michael Sedotal of Sulphur, LA and Misty Nichole Sedotal of Seattle, WA; sister, Betsey St. Louis and her husband, John, their two sons, Joshua and Jeremy of Arlington, VA; two brothers, Ralph Herpin and his wife Sheila of Scott, LA and Tony Herpin and wife Kay of Lafayette, LA. Faye is also survived by one grand-daughter, Madelyn Ann Marie Sedotal (her pride and joy) of Sulphur, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Paul Ovey Herpin and mother, Mrs. Marie Hester Thibodeaux Herpin of Bosco, LA; her parental grandparents, Ted Eloi Herpin and the former Marie Marida Hebert, both Lafayette Parish residents; maternal grandparents, Laurent Thibodeaux and the former Marie Emelie Prejean, also of Lafayette Parish. Visitation for friends will begin on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM under the direction of Brother Knights of St. Margaret's K of C Council 3208. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:30 PM in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Keith Pellerin of St. Martin de Porres will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
