Faye S. Douglass Chrisco

Faye Sylvia Douglass Chrisco, 96, departed this life peacefully in the early morning hours of March 30, 2011, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana and formerly of Biloxi, Mississippi.

Mrs. Chrisco was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri, on December 21, 1914, to Walter and Anise Douglass who have predeceased her. Her siblings were Vera, Sophie, and William Walter Douglass who have also gone before her.

She was married to the love of her life Carl Chrisco, who died in 1964 and whom she now happily joins, having missed him every day of her life since his passing.

She is survived by two daughters, Carrie Chrisco and Carla Chrisco, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and her beloved granddaughter Caralie Anyce Chrisco of New York City.

Sister - in - law Betty Douglass, her nephew Billy Douglass and grandniece Julie Douglass predeceased her. They were a part of her wonderful nieces and nephews who loved and cherished their "Aunt Faye"as she did them. They are the Douglasses Gene, Chester, Carol, Charlie, Pinkie, Nancy, Nona, Robert, Jimmy, Anna, Marla and John.

Mrs. Chrisco was an avid traveler having journeyed to Mexico, Alaska, Honduras, Antigua; and even helping her daughter Carrie to deliver a yacht to the Bahamas in her late sixties, sleeping on the deck under the stars. She worked as a beautician during the 1930's and 1940's but went to work at a munitions plant in Denver, Colorado, during World War II, to support the war effort and her husband who fought so bravely in that war. The highlight of her time at the plant was actually seeing Franklin Roosevelt face to face. A story she loved and repeated often.

She lived for several years with her daughter Carla and they shared many moments of heartache and joy in the every day adventures of living.

Her greatest labor of love was helping to raise her grandchild Caralie and she did a fantastic job, instilling a sense of humor, a dedication to a cause, and a love and appreciation of life.

Visitation Friday, April 1, 2011 will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home with a memorial service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Mrs. Chrisco's name to Hiefer International at heifer.org or Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202 or by calling 1 800-422-0474 since Mrs. Chrisco always found delight in buying a little calf for a village half way around the world.

She will be missed and mourned and will always be loved.
