Felix “Phil” Thibodeaux, 76, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Wednesday morning, May 4, 2016, in his residence.
Mr. Thibodeaux was born May 29, 1939 in Church Point, LA, where he lived until moving to Lafayette, and finally settling in Lake Charles in 1966. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He received his Pest and Termite License from Louisiana State University and was the owner and operator of Lake City Pest Control. For forty-three years, he has enjoyed working and spending time with his customers. Mr. Thibodeaux not only sponsored numerous children’s sports throughout the years, but he donated his time and his talents cooking for them also. He was a member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the Hi Noon Lions Club, and the LA Pest Control Association. He was also an avid camper and a charter member of the Cajun Road Runners and a member of the NCHA. Mr. Thibodeaux was a past charter member of Krewe de La Noblesse and a past member of the Buccaneers. He was also an old car enthusiast and was currently restoring his dream car, a 1974 Cadillac ElDorado. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He will always be remembered as an outstanding husband and amazing father and grandfather, who passed on his work ethics to those he loved.
Mr. Thibodeaux is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Theresa Huval Thibodeaux; daughter, Gisela Thibodeaux Sanders and husband Alton of Zachary, LA; sons, Michael Scot Thibodeaux and Rusty James Thibodeaux, both of Lake Charles; brother, Raymond Thibodeaux of Abbeville, LA; and three grandchildren, Megan Lewis, Ethan Lewis and Randi Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents, René and Eva Miller Thibodeaux; and a sister, Ruby Thibodeaux Hanks.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Cursillo Rosary at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
