F. J. Lungaro, 87, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 7:22 AM on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at a local care facility.
Mr. Lungaro was born January 24, 1929 in Baton Rouge, LA and graduated from New Iberia High School. He attended Tulane University at the age of sixteen, graduated from SLI with a degree in both Chemistry and English, and served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He worked as a chemist at Olin for twenty-five years and was a member of the Jaycees. He was the owner and buyer for Tillie’s for forty-one years. Mr. Lungaro was a member of the Rosa Heart Troupe, the Buccaneers and was a charter member of the Krewe de la Famille, where he served on the court two times. He also served on the Mardi Gras board of Imperial Calcasieu and the board for the Mardi Gras Museum. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mr. Lungaro loved to dance and travelled extensively.
Mr. Lungaro is survived by his wife of sixty years, Tillie Natali Lungaro; sons, Paul Lungaro and wife Barbara (Wakely) of Lake Charles and Gary Lungaro of Houston, TX; daughter, Len Lungaro Pousson and husband Joseph Pousson, Jr. of Lake Charles; brother, Anthony Joseph “A. J.” Lungaro of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Joseph Pousson, III, Laura Pousson, Andrew Pousson, Amy Pousson, Sarah Lungaro, and Charles Lungaro, II; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Joseph and Angelina Colletta Lungaro; and sister, Marie Delcambre.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignors Jace Eskind and Vincent Sedita will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:00 AM to 10:40 AM.
