Florence Farnsworth Koonce Rast

Florence Sister Farnsworth Koonce Rast, 94, of Westlake, LA died at 2:20 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Rast was born May 12, 1919 in Lake Charles, LA, raised in Moss Bluff, lived in Port Acres, TX for a number of years before moving to Westlake, LA forty years ago. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star #228 in Westlake, the Autumn Leaves Club and the Senior Citizen Quilters. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Westlake and a longtime member of the Board of Directors for the Ritchie Cemetery Association. Mrs. Rast was also a member of the Swinging Rebels Square Dance Group and enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Mrs. Rast is survived by her sons, Charles E. Koonce and wife Carolyn Alford Koonce of Moss Bluff and Wayne Koonce and wife Kaye Koonce of Fairfield, TX; daughter, Jessie Ruth Bertrand and husband Don of Moss Bluff; sister, Gladys Doyle of Dry Creek, LA; grandchildren Connie Louise Koonce Corbello Kitchens, John Michael Koonce, Charles Dale Reed, Melissa Koonce Mitchell, Tammy Koonce Jones and husband Jay Jones, Donna Ruth Bertrand, and Scott Bertrand and wife Tina; and great-grandchildren, Chad Michael Corbello, Tanner and Ellie Perales, J.T. and Cooper Jones, Lizzy Perales, Karson Shipley, Aaron and Ryan Mitchell, Keegan Scott and Andrew James Bertrand.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse E. Koonce and Charles Rast; parents, Charles and Gussie Reeves Farnsworth; sister, Jessie Moore; and great-granddaughter, Amber Kaye Mitchell.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Westlake under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverends Wayne McEntire and Oliver McGuire will officiate. Burial will follow in Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with an Eastern Star Service at 6:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
