Florine Marie Rider Aquillard, 85, of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Aquillard was born in Iowa, LA and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She worked some of her golden years, following the loss of her husband, at St. John Little Lambs where she found joy in cooking for children. She also worked many years at Dollar General where she enjoyed seeing familiar faces and visiting with others. During her younger years, Mrs. Aquillard, along with her husband, listened to Johnny Janot and French Music radio every Saturday morning, Saturday evening, they met friends and danced the night away. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, needle point, crocheting and was very talented in acrylic painting. She took great pride in her family, devoting her life and love to her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Aquillard will be most remembered as woman of strength, independence and love beyond measure.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Emma Jaye and husband Jimmy of Vinton; one son, David Bubba Aquillard and wife Mari of Bridge City, TX; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Mouton Aquillard of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Orian TuTu Rider, Jr. and wife Brenda of LeBleu Settlement; nieces, nephews, special niece, Ruby Harris, dear friend Earline Bryant, and her baby dog, Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Lindsey Aquillard, Sr.; son, Lindsey Aquillard, Jr.; granddaughter, Michelle Aquillard; parents, Orian and Ruby Hebert Rider and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 25, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Saturday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Sunday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
