Floyd Fontenot, 86, of Lake Charles died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at a local hospital.
Mr. Fontenot was born on September 23, 1926 in Mamou, Louisiana. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Fontenot retired from Stedman Grocery Wholesale as a salesman.
He enjoyed playing and listening to French Acadian Music. He had a great love for, and playing this music with his friends including Austin Pitre. He was a family man and his grandsons were his pride and joy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Edine Morein Fontenot, his daughter, Glenda Gayle Rawlinson McGuire and husband R. Lloyd, four grandsons: Richard Craig, Bryan Keith, Kelly Ray, and Mark Damon Rawlinson, 7 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a brother Howard Fontenot, and a sister Bobby Jean McCauley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse and Armide Fontenot, a brother, Ray Fontenot, and a sister Eula Mae O'Conner.
Funeral services for Mr. Fontenot will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Margarets Catholic Church at 12:00 pm with the Reverend Scott Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 pm till 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service.
