Frances Ardoin

Frances Marie Ardoin, 90, of Lake Charles, died Monday August 13, 2018 in a New Orleans Hospital surrounded by her family.

Frances was a native of Ville Platte and a long-time resident of Lake Charles. She was a nurse and worked as a waitress at Sammy’s Restaurant in Lake Charles. Having a natural voice for singing, she performed with some of the big names of the 1940’s and 1950’s in Mamou, Ville Platte and Eunice. She also was a ballroom dancer and, along with her late husband as her partner, did competitive dancing at the Fireman’s Ball. Frances was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Derico Joseph and Doris Marie DeVille Fontenot; sister, Freda Ratcliff; and daughters, Nona Janeaux and Diana Kay Butler.

She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory a son, Patrick Fuselier, Sulphur; daughter, Deborah Saurage, Wiley, TX; grandchildren, Domonique Mettler, Francoise Saurage, Justin Butler, Shane Janeaux, Starla Whitman, Cherre Janeaux, Misty Janeaux, Patrice Michon, Kristin Backlund, Shaune Fuselier, Richard Fuselier, Tamara Eloi, Sasha Richard, Kimberly Giardelli and Ashley Newman and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday August 16, 2018 with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 10:00 AM on Friday August 17, 2018 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.supportveterans.org) or the Society to Prevent Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
