Frances Burgin

April 3, 1951 — July 6, 2019

Frances “Frankie” Van Asselberg Burgin, 68, of Sulphur passed away peacefully July 6, 2019, in her residence surrounded by her family.  A native of Alexandria, she moved to the SWLA area in 1972.  

 

She was an educator at numerous private schools; Parkview Baptist, Victory Worship Center and Hamilton Christian Academy.  She then continued her career with the CPSB at Brentwood and Westwood Elementary schools.  She enjoyed being a teacher, her students, music, dancing, flower gardening and spending time with friends and family.  Throughout her career & friendships, she touched and molded many lives in SWLA.  

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Therman Van Asselberg Sr. and wife Virginia of Alexandria; one niece, Amy Van Asselberg of Sulphur and one nephew, Seth Pearce of Woodworth.  She is survived and cherished by one daughter, Leslie Burgin of Sulphur; one son, Steven Burgin of Sweet Lake; one granddaughter, Graylee Bradley of Sulphur and one grandson, Kandyn Burgin of Wildwood, Texas; two brothers, Thurman Van Asselberg Jr. and wife Theresa of Sulphur; Michael Van Asselberg of Alexandria; three sisters, Theresa Pearce and husband Mark of Woodworth, Katie Van Asselberg of Sulphur and Mary Lee and husband Tommy of Sulphur; numerous nieces and nephews.  

 

Family will receive visitors starting at noon on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Knights of Columbus 8058, 645 Lori Lane, Carlyss, Louisiana 70665 with a Celebration of Life/Memorial service beginning at 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Nora’s Home (https://www.norashome.org) in memory of Frances Burgin.
