Frances Lavergne Leleaux

Frances Newman LeLeaux passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the age of 79.

She was a native of Covington, Tennessee and a resident of Lake Charles for 48 years. Frances was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and served with the Catholic Daughters of America. Fran and her husband Ernie owned Stop N Shop Grocery at the corner of Lake and McNeese Streets for 30 years. Although the grocery store was a seven day a week responsibility, she always found time for sewing, fishing, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fran enjoyed bringing her family together for Sunday lunches. The favorite meal was fried chicken and milk gravy served with a pot of chicken and dumplings. Fran was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Nina. Nina could always be counted on to go outside for all types fun and telling some great bedtime stories.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 58 years, Ernest, two sons Stephen LeLeaux and wife Cindy of Lake Charles, Mark LeLeaux and wife Susan of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Ashlee LeLeaux Milazzo and husband Joe of Katy, Texas, Amanda LeLeaux Hilliard and husband Trey of Lake Charles, Laura LeLeaux Briley and husband Dusty of Lake Charles, Bryan LeLeaux and Liv Schmaltz of Lake Charles, Arinn LeLeaux Helms and husband Josh of Lake Charles, Zachary LeLeaux of Lake Charles, and Grace LeLeaux of Lake Charles; and eight great-grandchildren, Kirston Mitchell, Kassidy Mitchell, Campbell Lemons, Jade Briley, NormaGail Dedear, Adeline Thibodeaux, Dylinn Thibodeaux, and Kainen Hilliard.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Ruben Buller will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM.
