Francis Arden Dressler

Francis Arden Dressler, 69, a resident of Lake Charles, passed away in a Houston Hospital on September 17, 2016. He was born September 27, 1946 in Lake Charles, LA, the son of Lucy Brantley Dressler and Randolph Hearst Dressler. He was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a man of strong will and faith who loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and family.

Francis was a 1964 graduate of Lake Charles High School, where he played basketball and football, a 1967 graduate of McNeese State University, achieving a B.S. in Accounting and was selected to the American Collegiate Who’s Who, and then earned a Juris Doctorate from LSU Law School in 1972 while working as accountant for State Police in Baton Rouge for 4 years.  He was a member and trustee of Trinity Baptist Church. He was the president and charter board member of Calcasieu Cameron Crippled Children’s Organization/Association for Persons with Orthopedic Disabilities. He practiced law 44 years in Lake Charles and was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, and Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association.

He is survived by his wife Jan Cagle Dressler of 49 years, sons Francis Andrew Dressler “Andy”, William Randolph Dressler “Billy”, Joseph Brantley Dressler “Joey” married to Courtney Duplechain Dressler, grandchildren Patrick Jordan Danna, Noah Andrew Dressler, Dillon Cole Dressler, Maggie Jane Dressler, Miley Claire Dressler, sister Georgiann Dressler Compton (Husband Billy), brother Everett Waddell Burge, sisters-in-law Judy Cagle Kohler, Sue Babineaux Cagle, Florence Dressler, and Natalie Burge. He was preceded in death by mother Lucy Dressler, father Randolph Dressler, sister Honore Faithe Burton, brothers Randolph Hearst Dressler Jr. “Buddy”, Irvin Alexander Burge, Winfred Eddison Burge “Ed”, daughter-in-law Amber Schooler Dressler, sister-in-law  Grace Burge, brothers-in-law David Cagle and Brantley Cagle Jr.

His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from on, Tuesday, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

The Family would like to thank their church family of Trinity Baptist Church and the extensive list of physicians, their medical staff, and the DaVita Dialysis Center in Lake Charles and Houston for providing great care to Francis for so many years.
