Francis Whitney Haymark, 89, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:15 AM on Monday, September 25, 2017.
Mr. Haymark was born September 11, 1928 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a longtime resident. He lived in Houston, TX for a few years while managing a large lumber company. He was in the lumber business for over forty-five years, and part of the family owned and operated Haymark Shipyard in Lake Charles. Mr. Haymark was a proud member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he worshiped and served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve for twelve years. He was a member of the Woodman of the World and past President of the Louisiana Jurisdiction of WOW Life Insurance from 1971-73. Mr. Haymark loved working with wood and finished carpentry. He will always be remembered as a gentleman, always believed in helping others, and had a fun loving personality. Mr. Haymark is survived by his daughter, Lisa G. Young of Big Lake; grandchildren, Adam Young, Tiffany Young, Dana Vige, Ricky Thomas, Luke Thomas, Buddy Fontana, Blake Fontana, and Demi Fontana; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Stine and Joseph E. Haymark, Sr.; daughter, Karan Fontana; and siblings, J. E. Haymark, Jr., Mary L. Elms, Marjorie Colletta, and Curtis R. Haymark.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow in Orange Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
