Frank Peter Terranova

A Mass of Christian burial for Frank P. Terranova will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 03, 2014 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Monsignor Jace Eskind officiating. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM in the funeral home. Frank died on January 30, 2014 in Lake Charles, LA. Frank was born on August 11, 1920 to Peter Joseph and Josephine Navarra Terranova in Lake Charles. Frank was a lifelong native of Lake Charles and a graduate of Landry Memorial High School in 1939 where he played football for the Landry Tigers. He earned the nickname Mike the Tiger for his aggressiveness and tenacity. He was in the initial class at John McNeese Junior College in 1939 until he volunteered to serve in the U S Navy as World War 2 had begun. Frank served in the U S Navy during World War 2 in the Pacific Theater and in San Diego. Upon returning from the Navy he began to work with his Father and his uncles in the grocery, bar and package liquor businesses. In 1949 he married Frances Pecorino and they were married for sixty-one years until her death. He retired in 1970 and joined Reinauer Real Estate and Wesley Duck Real Estate but retired from Walgreens. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight. He was an active bowler in the KC's bowling league. He and his family were awarded as Family of the Year by the Knights of Columbus. Frank served as an usher at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for over 20 years. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Henry's Catholic Church. Frank and Frances received an Apostolic Blessing on April 24, 1999 from Pope John Paul II on their 50th wedding anniversary. Frank and Frances were also members of VIC's, Very important Christians. Frank was a Sicilian American whose roots go back to Bisacquino (Terranova's) and Corleone Sicily (Navarra's). He was very proud of his heritage and his Roman Catholic faith. God and family came first in Frank's life. Frank was predeceased by his parents, his three sisters, Rose Duplechain, Marie Cooksey and Josephine White. He is survived by his three children Jo Evelyn Adams and her husband Jim, Michael P. Terranova and his wife Debra; all of Lake Charles and Emma Albers and her husband Bill of Humble, TX. Frank has six grandchildren, Brian Price and wife Samantha of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Julie Miller and her husband Josh of Lake Charles, Joel Terranova of Lafayette, Gena Anne Terranova of Irving, TX, Tara Mahan Badeaux and husband Jonathan of Humble TX and Senior Airman Sean Michael Mahan of Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Frank also leaves four great grandchildren Sydney Terranova, Addison Price, Brayden Price and Lily Miller. Pallbearers will be Tom Tramonte, Joel Terranova, Sean Mahan, Neil Mire, James McGee and Paul Palermo. Honorary Pallbearers are Brian Price, Vincent Lupo, Jim Adams, Bill Albers, Jamie McGee and Jerry Hoover. Frank's family would like to express a special word of thanks to Resthaven Nursing and Care Center, St. Patrick's Hospital and their staff for the excellent care and compassion given to Frank during his illness. We also express our appreciation for all of the prayers from family and friends especially those of Reverend Herbert May and Reverend Monsignor Jace Eskind. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The McNeese State University Alumni Association, 75th Anniversary, The Diocese of Lake Charles, Seminarian Burse, St. Louis Catholic High School Foundation or The Veterans Memorial Park c/o City of Lake Charles.
