Frank Joseph Streva, 82, of Lake Charles, LA entered into eternal rest at 2:45a on November 27, 2014 in a Houston hospital. Frank was born on October 4, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA to Guisippe & Lucia Leggio Streva. He moved to Lake Charles in 1939. He was a 1951 graduate of Lake Charles High School. Frank served in the US Navy from 1951-1959 when he was honorably discharged as a Yeoman 3rd. He was a Regional Accounting Manager for Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in December, 1994, after 40 years of service. Frank was a man of great integrity, with a contagious smile and never met a stranger. His greatest joy in life was his family. Having lost his parents at a young age, he valued precious time spent with his loved ones. He actively coached in every activity his children were involved in from football, baseball, softball, & bowling. Once his kids were grown, his community involvement continued from the sidelines with his grandchildren. Frank enjoyed traveling both abroad and stateside. His travels took him to 30+ different countries of which he enjoyed sharing stories upon his return. He adored his Catholic faith and was serving as an usher at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church from 2004 until the time of his passing. Frank enjoyed bowling, golf, dancing, exercising, calling bingo at the veterans home in Jennings, and attending McNeese football games. He was a Cowboy Club Member since 1995. He was a member of W B Williamson American Legion Post #1 for 19 years. Offices held while a member of the Post are Baseball Committee 1996, Post Baseball Chairman 1996, Poppy Chairman 1997, Sargent of Arms 1998, Second Vice Commander 1999, Adjutant 2003 and Chaplain 2004 until the time of his passing. He was also President of several different bowling leagues for the past 35+ years. Frank received the Bowlarena Coach of the year award in 1979, the Loafer of the Year award in 1981 and the CBA Raymond C Murray Memorial award in 1983. During his lifetime Frank was involved in several business and professional associations including the SPELC Credit Union, where he served as Director from 1962-1968, The Traffic Club of LC from 1967-2014, Sabine District Transportation Club from 1979-2014 and Poll Commissioner from 1995-2004. In 1987, the Traffic Club of LC named him man of the year. Frank is survived by his four children, Anthony "Tony" Streva of Westlake, LA; Linda Streva Taylor and husband Glenn of Kingwood, TX; David Streva and wife Belinda of Lake Charles, LA and Sheila Brock of Orange, TX; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; and one brother Salvador "Sal" Streva of Lake Charles, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guisippe & Lucia Streva and a son-n-law, Tim Brock. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 4:00 pm-9:00 pm, with a 5:30 pm American Legion Memorial Service followed by a 6:00pm Scripture Service. Visitation will resume on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 9:00am-12:30pm at Johnson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Full Military Burial Honors will be held at Consolata Cemetery. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Amputee (WWAST) or the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
