Frankie Hazel Holbert Chapman, 90, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her beloved family.
Frankie was born in Carters, Georgia on June 8, 1925. Her parents, Eva Sue and Cicero Holbert had seven children. She often would affectionately reminisce of the time spent with her siblings and cousins as they grew up in Northwestern Georgia. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church and lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana for the past 52 years.
Throughout her life, Frankie loved traveling, working in her garden, painting, and most of all, caring for her family. The joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren. In her “spare time” she was either tending to her plants in her yard or painting gorgeous pieces of art in oils or watercolor. Her love of art took her to many different places and eventually she opened her own art gallery, The Silver Palette Gallery. Her enthusiasm for painting was so contagious, that she eventually began teaching art to others in the gallery.
Frankie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Harold C. Chapman; daughters, Nina Lee Chapman and Dawn Conner; brothers, Grady Holbert and Clayton Holbert; sisters Yvonne Holbert, Lois Dorsey, Jackie Holsomback, and Bobbie Sue Gresham.
Survivors include her son, Harold Chapman Jr., and her daughters, Gail Yantis and husband Gary; and Debbie Monroe. She is survived by seven grandchildren; Trisha Mier and husband Chris, Heather Fontenot, Michael Conner, Candice Callier and husband Jason, Brandon Lorentz and wife, Michelle, Christopher Hebert, and Kori Hebert and husband Mike. She was also blessed with seven great grand- children and two great great grandchildren.
