Fred Boerman, Sr.

Fred A."Pata" Boerman, Sr. 91, of Lake Charles, died at 5:55 PM Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in a Lake Charles hospital.

Mr. Boerman was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and has lived in Lake Charles for many years. He was a graduate of State High School in Kalamazoo; MI. Mr. Boerman attended Western Michigan University. In 1942 He enlisted in the United States Air force and became a fighter Pilot during WWII. During his enlistment he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Boerman retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1962.

Mr. Boerman is survived by His wife of 66 years Mrs. Genevieve Mancuso Boerman of Lake Charles, two sons Jim Boerman and Fred Boerman Jr. both of Lake Charles, LA, two daughters Yvonne Hankins and Donna Boerman both of Lake Charles, two granddaughters Danielle Smeltzer and Jennifer Devillier, and four great grandchildren Allie, Amber, Izabella and Makayla.

Mr. Boerman is preceded in death by one sister Toni Keglovitch, his grandson John Hankins and his parents Mable and Jacob Boerman.

His funeral will be held on Saturday March 3. 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service to be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at 8:00 AM on Saturday until 12:30 PM.
