Fred Joseph Gauthreaux, 81, of Lake Charles passes away at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Mr. Gauthreaux was born on November 1, 1933 in Lake Charles where he lived all of his life. He was a 1953 graduate of Landry High School and attended McNeese State University. Mr. Gauthreaux was a talented carpenter having built many houses. He also used his skills in his 33 year career at Firestone Polymers where he retired from. Mr. Gauthreaux was a past member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a current member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur and belonged to the Senior Circle in Lake Charles. He is known for making homemade wine of all flavors and sharing it with others. Mr. Gauthreaux enjoyed music and dancing and also playing cards. In his later years following retirement, he and his wife traveled and cruised extensively. Mr. Gauthreaux will be remembered as a loving and giving man and will be missed dearly. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy J. Gauthreaux; five children, Geraldine Vezina and Debra Richard (Billy) all of Grand Lake, Mitch Gauthreaux of Sweetlake, Carl Gauthreaux (Pamela) and Steven Gauthreaux (Barbara) all of Grand Lake; mother of his children, DonElda Gauthreaux of Lake Charles; eight step children, Alvin Roy Fasske (Johnnie) of Dibold, TX, Mary Solice of Clear Lake, TX, Rebecca Fasske of Everett, WA, Carson Fasske (Denise) of Lake Charles, Byron Fasske (Druscilla) of Everett, WA, Nicholas Fasske (Vickie) of Lake Charles, Timothy Fasske (Frances) of Sulphur, and Janie Sammis of Freeport, TX; four siblings, Nancy Percle (Howard), Bobby Gauthreaux (Carolyn), and Ted Gauthreaux (Debbie) all of Lake Charles, and LeRoy Gautreaux (Joyce) of Gretna, LA; eleven grandchildren; fifteen step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and twenty five step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lucia Gauthreaux; and six siblings, Ferdinand Gauthreaux, Nellie Woods, Edwin Gauthreaux, Norman Gauthreaux, Bette Gremillion, and Fannie Margie Gauthreaux. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Thursday in the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service to be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.
