Fred Manuel

Fred Manuel, 85, of Lake Charles died at 10:50 AM on Friday, October 15, 2010 in a local hospital.


Mr. Manuel was a native of Durald, LA and had lived in Lake Charles since 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and became a member of the American Legion W.B. Williamson Post #1. Mr. Manuel retired from PPG as a maintenance technician and belonged to the Machinist's Local #161. Prior to working for PPG, he was a milkman for Leading Dairy and Guth Dairy.


He was a Eucharistic Minister and an active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.


Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Mike Manuel and wife Sherry of Ragley, David and wife Vanessa Manuel and Carl Manuel all of Lake Charles; five grandsons; two granddaughters; two great grandsons; one great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Eula Manuel; parents, Frederick and Jennie Bell Manuel; and three siblings, Max Manuel, Josie Sonnier, and Wridly Fontenot.


A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 18, 2010 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
