Fred Myers, Jr.

February 22, 1965 — January 22, 2023

Wilfred Myers Jr. (Fred) was one of three children born to Gloria Gene and Wilfred Myers Sr. He was born February 22, 1965 in Lake Charles, LA.

He attended Lake Charles High School, where he played football and was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church. He also enjoyed his time coaching T-ball and little league football. Faith and Family were always the most important things to him. Often he would travel to Toledo Bend to spend time with his family and by chance it was here he would meet his bride to be, Tina Fontenot. Through her sister, they were matched and met on a blind date.

A year later, they exchanged vows and together they welcomed two children; a daughter, Tailor, and a son, Peyton. Not only was he the foundation of the family, he was also their confidant, best friend, and held a wealth of knowledge in regards to family events, birthdays, and holidays. He was not only a good father, but a good friend, offering sound advice to those who sought it.

This past Christmas was the most memorable, his daughter and her family had moved home and the delight on his face Christmas morning came from having his family together and taking in the grandchildren’s reactions as they opened their gifts together.

He was employed as a carpenter and later worked at Sasol in safety before taking early retirement due to ongoing health problems. His spirit never wavered, he remained kindhearted and giving, greeting everyone with a smile and a hug.

He was welcomed into Heaven, Sunday, January 22, 2022, by his parents and brother, Chad Michael Myers.

Those left to cherish his memory; his wife of twenty seven years, Tina; a daughter, Tailor and son in-law Bradley Bourque of Westlake; son, Peyton Myers of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, “baby girl” Elianna and “his best friend” Lincoln; a brother, Steven and wife Connie Myers of Many, LA; Sister in-laws, Jenny Fontenot, Melissa Fontenot, Tammy Crocker, and Brother in Law, Ricky Fontenot.

Family to welcome friends Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in chapel of Johnson Funeral Home beginning 5pm to 8pm. Visitation to resume Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 10 until time of service. Liturgy services will begin at 12pm with cremation to follow.
