Fred McKee, 83, loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather and loyal friend, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
Fred retired as a unit supervisor of the Sour Crude Unit of Conoco in 1993 after 27 years of service. Fred was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Korea during the Korean War, and often spoke of his service experiences with both organizations with fond and proud remembrance.
Fred was a member of the Cowboy Club at McNeese and a frequent fan at any type of McNeese sporting event. He was an avid golfer and could be found almost daily at the Frasch Park Golf Course, along with his great golfing buddies Walt Bartlett, Tony LeBato and Charlie Gorham.
Fred was a member of University United Methodist Church, Methodist Men's Club, and an active member of the Branches Sunday School Class. Fred and his wife Pat served as Stephen Ministers, as a legacy remembrance of his daughter Patti's service with this ministry. He leaves behind many treasured and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Shannon McKee of Milan, Missouri and his beloved daughter Patricia McKee Smith of Keystone Heights, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Pat McKee of Lake Charles, LA, his daughter, Janet Bucknor and husband Harrison, granddaughter, Kaylyn Elizabeth of El Dorado Hills, CA, his grandson, Kalil El-Khansa and wife, Kristie and Fred's great-grandchildren Kasen, Gabriel and Chloe, of Livingston, Louisiana, and Fred's son-in-law Ali El-Khansa of New Roads, Louisiana. Fred is also survived by daughter Cynthia Tomlinson and his grand-daughters Monica, Madeleine, and Michaela Mere, Fred's son Johnny Tomlinson and wife, Dawn, and Fred's sidekick Peanut, all of Lake Charles. Also surviving is his sister, Phyllis Foster and her husband, Don of Macon, MO, and 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
Fred's unfailing good humor and kind hearts made him loved by nearly everyone who met him. He is sorely missed and will be lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July, 27 at Johnson Funeral Home from 3:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral services will be at University United Methodist, 3501 Patrick Street, Lake Charles at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 28, 2013 with visitation preceding starting at 1:30PM until time of service. Reverend Charlie Langford will officiate.
