Frederick "Rick" Stebbins

April 26, 1954 — February 1, 2024

Frederick “Rick” Thornwell Stebbins, 69, passed away on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 in a local care facility while surrounded by his family.

Rick was one of five children born to Thornwell Fay and Ruth Inez St. Romain Stebbins on April 26, 1954 in Lake Charles, La.  He began his career in the lawnmower industry.   He started out in high school working as a mechanic for Henry’s Mower Sales until he later opened his own successful business, SE Lawnmower Sales and Service where he would say, “If you ain’t Yazooin, you ain’t mowin!”  He lived in several southeastern states from 1991-2003.  He worked for Yazoo in sales then Pug Inc. as a National Sales Mgr.  He returned to Louisiana where he and Sally made the family farm in Ragley their home.  He began working for Ariens as a District Mgr. then retired from K&S Power Equipment as a store manager.

He will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman, an animated storyteller, the man who wanted everyone to have a good time, and his famous Boudreaux and Thibodeaux jokes.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 years, Sally Mire Stebbins, Ragley; one son, Brad (Carla) Stebbins, Ragley; two daughters, Trena Stebbins, Longville and Jennifer (Triston) Elliott, Westlake; one step-daughter, Shannon Heinzen, Lafayette; one brother, John (Tina) Stebbins, Ragley; two sisters, Paula Stebbins, Ragley and Germaine Stebbins, Slidell; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles St. Romain Stebbins.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Stonebridge and Heart of Hospice that treated Rick with tenderness, compassion and love. We appreciate all of the support.
