Gary Bop Joseph Fuslier, 61, of Sulphur died peacefully at 3:05 PM Friday, February 22 in his home after an eleven month battle with brain cancer.
Gary was born on July 6, 1951 to the parents of Rita and Clifton Fuslier. He was a 1971 graduate of Westlake High School. After graduation Gary enlisted with the United States Marine Corp. Gary worked and retired as an Operator after 30 years at Cities Service Oil Corporation. He also worked as an International Contract Representative for local Unions in South East Texas and Southwest, Louisiana. He served as President and Secretary Treasure for local 13-500 the United Steel Workers Union. Gary loved music and played the keyboard in several different bands over the years. He was an avid Saints Fan, loved to fish and spend time with his family and the people he represented.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie Buzz Fuslier of Sulphur, LA, one son, Shawn Fuslier and wife Tara of Lake Charles, LA, one daughter, Ashley Fuslier Mehoves and husband Travis of Sulphur, LA, four brothers; Clifton Larry Fuslier and wife Debbie of Sulphur, LA, Randy Fontenot and wife Bobbie Jean of DeRidder, LA, Harris Fontenot, Jr. of Crowley, LA and Jude Fontenot and wife Becky of Iowa, LA, three sisters, Kathy Grob and husband Gary of Moss Bluff, LA, Dawn Gover and husband Robert of Sulphur, LA and Lena Turner of Lake Charles, LA, five grandchildren; Angela Mehoves, Caleb Mehoves, Robby Fuslier, Alaina Mehoves, and Emmy Fuslier, step-mother Lydia Fuselier of Lake Charles, LA, and mother, Rita Fuslier and husband Harris Fontenot of Moss Bluff, LA.
Gary is preceded in death by his father Clifton Joseph Fuslier and one sister, Sandra Cormier.
A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the United Steel Workers Union Hall in Sulphur, LA 201 Center Circle, 70663.
