Gary Lee Pearce Sr., 70, of Lake Charles and former long time resident of Sulphur, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 17, 2014, surrounded by his family. Gary was born on August 2, 1944, in Lake Charles to Delbert and Frances Marie Mouhart Pearce. He was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School, Class of 1962, and a McNeese State University graduate of 1968 with a degree in Accounting. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber as Controller after 26 years of service. After retirement, Gary began a new career as a sales representative for Insurance Unlimited. Gary lived in Sulphur, LA, for 32 years prior to moving to Lake Charles in 2010. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur and after moving back to Lake Charles became a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel. He was also a member of Calcasieu Investment Club holding numerous offices, a former member of the Kiwanis Club, served as a charter member of Father Monahan's Council # 8322 of the Knights of Columbus in Maplewood and served as the first Financial Secretary. Gary was preceded in death by his mother and twin brother, Barry Allen Pearce. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gayle Trahan Pearce, of Lake Charles; two children, Gary Lee Pearce Jr. and Stephanie Gayle Pearce Helms; four grandchildren, Brittany Michelle Pearce, Gary Lee "Trey" Pearce III, Bailey Grace Helms, and Sydney Claire Helms; father, Delbert Ivan Pearce; sister, Judy Pearce Moffett, and her husband Worth. A Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau serving as celebrant. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home today, Wednesday November 19, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 6:30 PM and continue from 10 AM until 1:30 PM, Thursday, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gary L. and Gayle T. Pearce Accounting Scholarship through the McNeese Foundation, the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his mother, Marie Pearce, or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sulphur, LA.
