Gary Lynn Smith, “Birdman”, 52, of Westlake, Louisiana, entered this world the morning of June 10th, 1969 at Cal Cam Hospital in Sulphur, Louisiana. He departed this world December 15, 2021 surrounded by his immediate family.
Gary was a lifelong resident of the Westlake area. He graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1987. He worked as a skilled electrician in local refineries for nearly 30 years.
Gary loved riding motorcycles and repairing old lawnmowers and go carts. He enjoyed attending New Life Pentecostal Church in Ragley.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Smith of Jennings; his parents, Bobby and Peggy Smith of Westlake; his sister, Keena Cooper of Westlake; his twin brother, Cary Lee Smith and wife, Bethany Smith; and their children, Brooklyn and Drew of Westlake; Aunt, Naomi Guess and her Husband George Guess of Moss Bluff; his niece, Amber Palir and her husband Kent Palir of Nashville, Tennessee; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his niece, Contessa Cooper of Westlake; his brother-in-law, Jackie Cooper of Westlake; and his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 20, 2021 in Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. A gathering will begin on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. The family will have a private inurnment at a later date.
