Gary Wayne Criswell, 66, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in his residence.
Mr. Criswell was born September 15, 1955 in DeRidder, LA. He graduated from DeRidder High School and McNeese State University with his degree in accounting. He began his career working for his brother-in-law, Ronnie and then worked many years at Boeing, where he also taught. Mr. Criswell then worked as an operator at Citgo for almost thirty years, where he retired two years ago. He was raised in the Baptist faith and always had a passion for sports. From an early age, he enjoyed baseball and softball and would coach his sons when they were younger. He always had a knack for fixing things and could do anything that he put his mind to. He will be remembered as a loving and caring man, who enjoyed having things done his way… He will be forever missed.
Mr. Criswell is survived by his sons, Gregory Paul Criswell and wife Yokiko of Japan and Geoffrey William Criswell of Lake Charles; his soulmate, Alice Sarvaunt of Lake Charles; sisters, Billie Cooley and husband Ronnie of DeRidder and Suzette Minga and husband Roy of Gloster, MS; grandson, Aren Criswell; grand-dog, Victor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair Nell Sexton and William Edgar Criswell.
His funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Reverend Danny Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Saturday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Sunday from 11:30 AM until the start of the service.
