Gaston Champagne

Gaston J. "Coon" Champagne, Jr., passed away, Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Champagne was a native of Alexandria, LA and has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Marion High School and worked forty years as a Operator/Engineer for Himont. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed vegetable gardening, loved time away at his camp at Toledo Bend and hunting and fishing. He attended First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles. Mr. Champagne will be most remembered as a good and honest man and for his love and devotion to his wife during the many years of her illness. He leaves to honor his memory, one son, Steven Wayne Champagne of Houston, TX and one grandson, Dylan Joseph Champagne of Moss Bluff. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Claudia Dean Donahue and one son, Brandy Champagne. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 01, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jeffery Ralston will officiate. Interment will follow in Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home. Mr. Champagne's family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors and staff of Harbor Hospice and outpatient nurse, Jennifer Quebodeaux for their excellence in care and compassion during this difficult time.
