Gaye Drost Kent

January 26, 1946 — October 2, 2020

Gaye Lynn Drost Kent, 74, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, October 02, 2020 in a Baton Rouge hospital.

Mrs. Kent was born January 26, 1946 to Charles Richard Drost and Catherine Mitchell Drost in Lake Charles where she lived most of her life.  She was a graduate of Sulphur High School and Louisiana State University where she attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked twenty years as a Registered Nurse.  Mrs. Kent enjoyed cooking, shopping online and traveling throughout the United States.  She also enjoyed preparing, decorating and welcoming family and friends for holiday gatherings.  She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church.  One of her greatest joys was attending Sunday School with dear friends, serving dinners on Wednesday nights and knowing a deeper love of Jesus through the teachings of her Pastor, Bro Steve James.  Mrs. Kent will be most remembered for her gracefully clumsy spirit, as after her Christmas trip and fall, she was often referred to as a “walking National Lampoon”.

Although Gaye’s health was in decline, she never complained and always had a very positive outlook on life!

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Richard Henry Kent of New Orleans and Andrew Drost Kent of Lake Charles; two brothers, Mitch Drost and wife, Linda of Lake Charles and Skipper Drost and wife, Sandi of Lake Charles; nieces and nephews, Will Drost, Desiree Brame, Chas Drost, Annie Berrigan and Catherine Drost and her baby dog, Daisy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Richard Drost and Catherine Faye Mitchell.

Graveside services will be at 12:00 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Dutch Cove Cemetery in Sulphur.  Reverend Steve James will officiate. Interment will follow.

Memorial donations in the honor of Gaye may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1800 Country Club Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605.
