Gaynell Lejeune Rosteet

February 3, 1939 — May 21, 2016

It is with deep sadness that Gaynell LeJeune Rosteet left this world to enter Glory on Saturday, May 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving husband and children. Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 3:00 till 5:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home on Lake Street in Lake Charles.

Gaynell was married to her sweetheart of 50 years, Fred A. Rosteet. She is survived by her husband and four children, Jimmie L. Rosteet, Brenda L. Rosteet, Deborah Rosteet Miller and Freddie J. Rosteet. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Hobart (Bobby) Miller, Jr. and her loving grandchildren, Joshua Nitsch, Anna Claire Miller, Abigail Rosteet, Ethan Miller and Allison Rosteet.

Gaynell was born to John I. LeJeune and Majorie “Tootsie” Reed LeJeune on February 3, 1939 and has one brother William L. LeJeune and one sister Bertha LeJeune Kibedeaux. She is preceded in death by her mother and father and a brother, Johnny LeJeune.

Mrs. Rosteet loved antiquing, going to the flea market and laughing and cutting up with her friends. Her favorite place to be was Rosita, Colorado at the family cabin. You could see her bent over digging for treasure at the old home sites where she dug up bottles, plates and trinkets. She loved her trips to Colorado. She also loved having daily bible studies and prayer with her husband and children.

Gaynell graduated from Jennings High School in 1957 and kept in touch with classmates to this day. She worked as a Bookkeeper at Calcasieu Marine National Bank, a church secretary at Boulevard Baptist Church where she enjoyed all of the pranks pulled on her and as a Nurse’s Aide at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for 16 years. She loved being a member of Boulevard Baptist Church for over 30 years where she taught Sunday school, Mother’s Day Out, and spent time at the gym so kids could go there after school to play and have fun. She was presently a member of the Sale Street Baptist Church in Lake Charles.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital including the ER and the personnel on floors 6, 7, and 8 who took excellent care of her during her stay. Special thanks to The Guardian, Dr. Karam and the Harbor Hospice Hospital who made her last days very accommodating to the family.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
