Gene Webster Bertrand

Gene Webster Bertrand, 73, of Lake Charles died at 10:15 PM Sunday, May 26, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mr. Bertrand was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on December 26, 1939 to the parents of Dudley and Mary Neta Bertrand. He was a 1959 graduate of Marion High School. Gene worked for Entex as a Service Man and retired after working for 36 years. He loved spending time fishing for Big Bass and he was an avid LSU Tiger fan.

Gene is survived by his mother, Nita Mary Johnson of Lake Charles, LA, three sons, Nathan Bertrand and wife Donna of Lake Charles, LA, Kurk Bertrand and wife Deanna of Ragley, LA, and Ray Bertrand and wife Shannon of Lake Charles, LA, one sister, Rae Annette Arabie and husband Martin of Toledo Bend, seven grandchildren; William Buhrman of Lake Charles, LA, David Bertrand of Lake Charles, LA, Corvette LaVergne and husband Jordan of Hathaway, LA, Orin Bertrand and wife Stephanie of Killeen, TX, Laci Bertrand of Ragley, LA, Morgan Bertrand, and Emmalee Bertrand both of Lake Charles, LA, three great great grandchildren; Farrah LaVergne and Lillie LaVergne, and Falyn LaVergne.

He is preceded in death by his wife Myrtle H. Bertrand and his father, Dudley Bertrand.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Father John Huckabee will officiate. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 10:00 AM until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at a later date.
