Genevieve Mancuso Boerman, 88, of Lake Charles, LA died at 1:20 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Boerman was born June 24, 1925 in Lake Charles, LA, where she was a life-long resident. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School, where she was a Kilties. She retired from St. Louis High School after many years of service as the office secretary and bookkeeper. Mrs. Boerman was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She was an avid duplicate bridge player, having achieved the status of Gold Life Master. She was also a member of the American Contract Bridge League and the Lake Charles Duplicate Bridge Club. She loved cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Boerman is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Hankins and Donna Boerman; sons, Jim Boerman and Fred Boerman, Jr., all of Lake Charles; sister, Annette Mobley of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Danielle Smeltzer of Katinning, PA and Jennifer Devillier of Lake Charles; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Amber, Izabella, and Makayla, and numerous nieces and nephews; particularly, Suzanne Mitchell of North Carolina and Barbara duPont of Lake Charles, who were especially close to her and supportive of their Aunt GiGi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Boerman, Sr.; brothers, James Mancuso, Sam Mancuso and wife Evelyn, and Henry "Doc" Mancuso and wife Ethel; sister-in-law, Toni Keglovitz; grandson, John Hankins; granddaughter, Ellen Boerman; and parents, Sam Mancuso from Orange, TX and Fena Tripiano Mancuso from Sicily. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. A gathering of family and friends will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
