Genevieve Morein “Jenny” Fontenot, 94, formerly of Lake Charles, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 in Friendswood, TX following a brief illness.

Mrs. Fontenot was born to Elmer Morein and Elizabeth Tate Morein in Ville Platte, LA where she was raised, educated and was a graduate of Ville Platte High School. She went on to graduate from Demon’s School of Beauty in Lake Charles and thoroughly enjoyed styling hair for countless friends and family for over twenty-five years in her salon “Jenny’s Beauty Salon”. She, along with her husband, was a member of the Gulf Coast Region Antique Automobile Club and the club travel circuit. A lady of grace, faith and prayer, she was a long-time member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Mrs. Fontenot will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Donna Arabie (Roger Dale) of Nokomis, FL, Elizabeth Olivier of Round Rock, TX and Rebecca Herder of Friendswood, TX; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Woodrow Morein (Bertha) and two sisters, Lou Soileau and Lena Vidrine, all of Ville Platte.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Nolan Joseph Fontenot; daughter, Carol Gwendolyn Meaux; son-in-law, Leo P. Olivier, Jr.; grandson, Judd Kenyon Meaux; and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Vivian (Evie) Carter; parents and two sisters, Vernice Wilson and Emma Naquin.

Monsignor James Gaddy led Private Funeral Services in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Interment services followed at Consolata Cemetery.
