Genevieve Thomas

Genevieve Thomas, 77, of Lake Charles died at 6:35 PM Friday, December 2, 2011 in a local care facility with her loving family at her side.

Mrs. Thomas was a native of Sweet Lake, Louisiana and has lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She was a 1953 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. Genevieve lived in Nevada, Louisiana, Italy, Oklahoma, Arizona, Okinawa, Virginia, and the Philippines as a part of a United States Air Force family. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society. Genevieve loved bowling, painting, golf, and loving her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years Joseph G. Thomas Sr. of Lake Charles, LA; two sons, Tom L. Thomas and his wife Barbara and Joseph G. Thomas Jr. and his wife Rhonda all of Lake Charles, LA; one daughter, Mary D. Landry and husband Benson of Sulphur, LA; two brothers, Wilbert McFarlain, Jr. of Canyon Lake, TX, and Merlin McFarlain of Westlake, LA, one sister Earline Schexnider of Lake Charles, nine grandchildren; Benson Landry Jr., Jaous Landry, Datha Landry, Seth Thomas, Scott Thomas, Polly Pendergrass, Phoebe Thomas, Catlin Delafield, Gabrielle Thomas, and two great grandchildren; Seth"Aubrey" Thomas, Jr. and Lillian Gann.

Mrs. Thomas is preceded in death by her parents Marie and Wilbert McFarlain, one sister Lela Ferrell.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Rev. John Huckaby will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 7:30 followed by a scripture service at 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday at 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.
