George A. "Bozo" LaBove, Jr., of Sulphur died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. LaBove lived most of his life in Hackberry, LA. He was a graduate of Hackberry High School and Sowela Technical School where he attained an Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics. He served the United States Army as a Point Man and a Machinist during Vietnam.
Mr. LaBove worked thirteen of his younger years in Algonac, MI where he was a Ferry Pilot for Champions on the St. Clair River. He returned to his home town of Hackberry to meet and marry "the love of his life and best friend". He worked for Parson Gilbane at the Strategic Federal Reserve Site where he laid out roads, pump pads, buildings and was a surveyor. Mr. LaBove, along with his wife, then started a DG Amaco and Wrecker Service. He also worked a number of years for Triple A Construction and retired from Duphile, Inc. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and their 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #8107.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working cattle. His greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren.
Mr. LaBove will be most remembered as a prayerful man, devoted to his family.
He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of thirty five years, Dorothy "Dot" Merritt LaBove of Sulphur; four sons, Michael "Mickey" Domingue of Sulphur, Russell Lee Domingue and wife Jana of Lake Charles, Billie "B.J." LaBove of Sulphur and Shannon Dale LaBove and wife Katie of Sulphur; three grandchildren, Michael Allen Domingue and wife Alaina of Sulphur, Steven James Domingue of Humble, TX and Ali Claire LaBove of Sulphur; two step- grandchildren, Lakin and Tyler of Lake Charles; one great- grandchild; Bently Allen Domingue of Sulphur; one brother, Ricky Dale LaBove and wife Susie of Hackberry; two sisters, Norma Jean Fontenot and husband Ernest and Wanda Faye White, both of Hackberry and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George "Alpha" LaBove, Sr. and Flora Perrodin LaBove; a son, George A. LaBove, III and a granddaughter, Kasey LaBove.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 PM Saturday, June 11, 2011 in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, LA. Father Rommel Tolentino will officiate. Interment will be in Mimosa Pines South in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Friday will be from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Hall.
