George Babineaux, 92, passed away on October 8, 2015 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. George was born on May 5, 1923 in Jennings, LA to the late Constance and Annie Babineaux. He was raised in Sweetlake, Louisiana before entering the United States Army in 1943. He served in the 397th anti-aircraft artillery battalion that landed on Omaha Beach, in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. Following his service to his country, George returned home to Sweetlake in 1946. George was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sulphur, LA. George is survived by his loving wife Opal. George and Opal were married 67 years and raised 5 children. George is also survived by his 5 children, Jacqueline Bryant and husband Mark, Kenneth Babineaux and wife Sheila, Judy Hinton and husband Dean, Jennifer McAdam and husband Glenn and Keith Babineaux and wife Sheila. He also left behind and will be missed by his 18 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. Funeral services for George will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11 am at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Reverend Arvin Harrell officiating. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines North. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6-9 pm at the funeral home and resume on Saturday from 9 am until the time of service.
