George Charles Cormier, 64, of Westlake passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in his residence.
Mr. Cormier was born on October 17, 1953 in Chicago, IL. He was raised in Dequincy where he was a graduate of Dequincy High School. Mr. Cormier moved to Lake Charles in 1975 and had lived in Westlake for more than 25 years. He was an operator at Olin Chemical for 10 years before becoming disabled due to an accident.
He was an avid fisher and hunter and enjoyed spending time at the camp and reminiscing about his visits to the camp to his grandson.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Amanda Cormier Ardoin (Philip) of West Monroe and Georgia Cormier of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren, Dylan Guidry of Lake Charles and Henry Magallanes of Aurora, CO; and six siblings, Warren Cormier, Jr of Lake Charles, Pamela Ann Whitsitt of Sulphur, Suzanna Cooper (Gary Sr.) of Huffman, TX, James Cormier (Pam) of Huffman, TX, Mark Cormier of Lake Charles, and William “Billy” Cormier (Beth) of Channelview, TX.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ross Allen Cormier, a brother, Ronald Wayne Cormier; and parents, Elizabeth and Warren Cormier, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 26, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 1:00 PM.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Dylan Guidry, Gary Cooper, Jr., Keith Cormier, Cade Cormier, and James Cormier.
