George E. "Pop" Leubner

April 7, 1945 — March 28, 2024

George E. “Pop” Leubner, the oldest of his four siblings, was born to B.E. and Pearl Lyons Leubner, passed away on March 28, 2024. Pop was a loving husband to Cathy Louise “Blocker” Leubner, Dad, Paw-Paw and Great Grandfather.

Pop was born in Lake Charles, La and was a life long resident of Westlake, La. After high school, he worked at the Midway Drive-In as a cook where he quickly became family with his fellow workers and employers. It was while working at the drive-in he received his “All Expense Paid” trip to Vietnam courtesy of Uncle Sam. Pop served his country Proudly in the Army until he was Honorably Discharged after his tour was completed. Upon returning home, he would begin his career with Holnam Cement Co retiring after 30 years. Within the years he was employed with Holnam, Pop also purchased two of Westlake’s “Go To” Carwashes that he and his family managed for many years. After his retirement, he would find himself restless and decided to go to work for Pumpelly Oil Co for another 7 years. After his second retirement, he decided to buy some lawn equipment, get a few yards and spend the remainder of his life cutting grass, which he LOVED to do.

Pop was a True Family, Friends and Outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, exploring on his four-wheeler and Family/Friends time. Any road trips he shared with his family, he would point out different locations along the interstate or back roads that he felt would have a lot of deer or squirrels. He was a life-long member of The Westlake Hunting Club in Topsy, La. and could always be found under the pavilion drinking coffee, swapping stories and laughing. He could also be found on many of Louisiana’s public hunting properties accompanied by his sons.

Pop was a Good and Faithful believer in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He completed his ACTS retreat in 2014 and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic church in Ragley, La. Pop truly lived and loved his Faith, which could easily be seen by both his attendance in Mass every Sunday to the time he spent at his Grandkid’s and Great Grandkid’s events regardless of time, weather or miles.

Pop is survived by his wife Cathy L. (Blocker) of 51 years, their son Jason (and wife Michelle Leubner), a Daughter-In-Law Misty C. Leubner, brothers Carl (Carolyn) Leubner and Robert (Francis) Leubner, many nieces and nephews, His grandchildren: Destiny (Calab) Authement, Keileigh Leblanc, Emily Leubner and Cameron Leubner. His Great Grandchildren: Makaylee, Annistyn and soon to make her arrival Ella Authement.

Pop was preceded in death by his parents B.E. and Pearl (Lyons) Leubner, his sister Frankie (Leubner) Gwartney and his son Michael N. Leubner.

To sum up this man’s life in an obituary is impossible, but if you ask anyone who knew him, you would receive a memory that is sure to make you smile!!!
