George G. Alexander, 60, a resident of Sweetlake, LA died at 9:47 PM Sunday, April 17, 2011 peacefully with his family surrounding him.
Mr. Alexander was born in Jennings, Louisiana and lived in the Lake Charles area for most of his life. He was the owner of George's Place in Sulphur for 10 years and spent the remaining time working as a truck driver with his wife. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard, spending time with his family, traveling and reading. Mr. Alexander was a member of University United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years Kim Payne Alexander of Sweetlake, LA, two sons Jeff Alexander and his wife Carolyn of Irvine, CA, Mickey Alexander of Brooklyn, NY, one daughter Tracy Benoit of Lake Charles, one brother Dr. Randy Alexander and his wife Wanda of Lake Charles, one sister Sharon Alexander of Sulphur, LA, four grandchildren Brittany Benoit, Brett Benoit, Brant Benoit and Brock Benoit, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Alexander is preceded in death by his parents Dr. George "Mickey" and Luna Cole Alexander.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 5:00 PM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charlie Langford will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM until the time of services.
