George Gene Roy

George Gene Roy, 94, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday December 8, 2022, surrounded by his family.

George was a native of Mansura, La., and was the youngest of nine children born to George and Clemita Ponthieux Roy. He honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1949 he and his bride Peggy Ardoin Roy, made Lake Charles their home. While he wore many hats from, truck driving, to being a school bus driver for 20 years, he also was  a clock maker.  George’s main livelihood was being the owner and operator of the Majestic Barbershop in down town Lake Charles for over 60 years, but of all the things he did, loved and worked for he was most proud of being Peggy’s husband and the Dad to his four daughters. George was a man who loved God, loved his family, loved others, did his best and had fun. He practiced his faith through the Catholic faith.

Those preceding George in death are his parents; eight siblings; and beloved wife of  62  years. He leaves to honor and cherish his memories his four daughters, Jill Marie Dohrman(husband Eric ), Moss Bluff; Nancy Ann Roy, Lake Charles; Jennifer Lynn Weller(husband Mark), Springfield, MO; and Vickie Jane Choates( husband Luke ), Pineville, MO; four grandsons and their wives Derrick & Lyndee Brassieur, David & Emilie Brassieur, Benjamin & Jamie Oliver, Brandon & Laura Oliver; seven great grandchildren, Dhara, Aila & Lola Brassieur and Henry, Wallace, Beatrice & Willa Brassieur along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.

Because of the kindness and goodness of many, the family wants to sincerely thank all those who went out of their way by donating their time and efforts in making George’s life comfortable.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday December 11, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, with a Rosary to be observed at 6:00 PM. Visitation continues on Monday December 12 at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday at St. Martin De Pores Catholic Church with Monsignor Jace Eskind serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
