George Joseph Bouquet

George Joseph Bouquet, 93, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, at home in Lake Charles surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 10, 1930, to Adnes and Manette Landry Bouquet in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

In his early years, George explored the waters of Lake Charles and Contraband Bayou. He had a deep affection for cars and motorcycles and spent most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

In his earlier career, he worked as a carpenter and later as an Operator at WR Grace, retiring in 1993 going out “with a bang.” George cherished moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the fiddle and accordion. He found delight in the melodies of Freddie Fender and sharing dances with his beloved wife, Ruth.

George was known for his impeccable style and the fragrance of the best colognes. Basking in the sun brought him great pleasure. He had a daring spirit, and would jump into any swimming pool… no dare required!

He is survived by his daughters, Dina Istre (Barton) and Glenda Williams (Robert); his son, Robert Bouquet; his son-in-law, Don Thomason (Carmen); his grandchildren, Megan Thomason, Katie Tucker (Joseph), Kallie Hess (Ryan), Kennedy Istre (fiancée Maddie Morales), Crystal Bouquet, Charlie Thomason (Ashley), and Victoria Foster (Robert); and his great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Wyatt, Julien, Leaf, Camden, Grayson, Lathan, Mason, and Cooper.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, his daughter Monica Thomason, and his siblings Mervyn Phillips, Tessie Belaire, Roberta Joslin, and Robert Bouquet.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 AM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, with Rev. Joshua Page as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery, directed by Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel on Lake Street, with a rosary recitation at 12:30 PM.
