George Wayne "Toots" Myers, 89, of Lake Charles died at 4:10 AM on Monday, March 23, 2015 in a local hospital. Mr. Myers was born on May 17, 1925 in Lake Charles where he lived all of his life. He was a World War II Veteran as a Navy Sea Bee. Mr. Myers worked as an operator at CITGO and retired after 40 years of employment. He was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his wood carving skills, his love for fishing, and his passion for gardening and yard work. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Sylvia Myers; five children and their spouses, David Wayne Myers and Sherry of Snellville, GA, Julie Boudreaux and TeBoud of Lake Charles, Mark Myers and Sharon of Oviedo, FL, Susan Hardey of Lake Charles, and Scott Myers and Tanya of Covington, LA; four siblings, Louis Myers of Lake Charles, Donald Myers of Opelousas, and Peggy Myers and Janet Graham both of Lake Charles; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Yola Myers; two sisters; three brothers; and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 27, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Harold Nixon will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 1:30 PM.
