George Webner Ash

November 4, 1927 — June 12, 2018

George Webner Ash, 90, passed away on June 12, 2018 at a local hospital.

 

Mr. Ash was born in Fairmont, WV in 1927 and later graduated from West Fairmont High School in 1945. Mr. Ash is a veteran of both World War 2 and the Korean War serving his country in the United States Navy and Air Force. He is a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Mining. He retired from Shell Oil Co in 1981. Mr. Ash is remembered as a very organized and structured man. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, and doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles.

 

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Glenda Irby Ash; daughter, Sharon Lou Walter of Crosby, TX; one son, George A. Ash of Monterey, CA; two stepsons, Jack Robbins of Huntsville, TX and Mark Guion of Dallas, TX; two step-daughters, Pamela Louder of Midlothian, TX, and Jane Baggett of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

 

A memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 1PM on Saturday, June 16, 2018. A brief graveside will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Dr. John Robert Black will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the start of the service.
