Georgia Lou Morel Reed, 86, of Lake Charles, LA died at 8:43 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Reed was born September 3, 1927 in Lake Charles, LA, and lived in Akron, OH for six years before returning to Lake Charles in 1952. She was a 1944 graduate of Lake Charles High School and was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she served as queen, president and girl of the year. She, along with her husband, Jack, were founding members of St. Luke Methodist Church, where they were active members for a number of years. Mrs. Reed enjoyed interior design projects on the homes that her husband built. She was an excellent seamstress, an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling, and loved crafts and painting. She was also a huge Saint's Football and Houston Astro's Baseball fan. Mrs. Reed also loved entertaining and loved having her home filled with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who "God Love It" always put her family on a pedestal. She was the glue that held her family together, and started many family traditions that will continue to be passed down for generations. Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Jack Reed; children, Jacqueline Reed of Lafayette, LA, Craig S. Reed and wife Jennifer of Carencro, LA, Jennifer Perot and husband Tony of Lake Charles, Judith Bass and husband Glenn of Scott, LA, and Jill Rhoden and husband Richard of Lake Charles; three sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, with one on-the-way; her beloved poodle, Rosie; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Irma Morel; and brothers, Leo Morel, Jr. and James Morel. Donations can be made to St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church.
