He continued service in the Maplewood community between 1966 and 1970 as assistant coach at Maplewood Jr High School while attending McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Education from McNeese in 1971, he became the official Head Coach of Maplewood Jr High School and continued at McNeese College, achieving a Masters in Education in 1977. After ten years as a Head Coach he moved to Freeport, Texas and became a supervisor for Allwaste Services. In 1983 he moved back to Maplewood to become Supervisor of the new Allwaste Office in Sulphur, LA. In 1987 his first love of coaching called him back into education where he taught Algebra and coached at Dequincy High School and then at Sulphur High School. He was Assistant Principal at Vinton High School for three years, then Assistant Principal at Lewis Middle School for three years, Vincent Settlement for two years, and as fate would have it, he became principal of Maplewood Middle School for three years before retiring in 2003. After retirement, Bubby worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Koasati Pines Golf Course in Kinder, La., L’Auberge Golf Course in Lake Charles, La., and Bayou Desiard Country Club in Monroe, La., and Beaver Creek Golf Course in Zachary. La. Not only was he the head pro at Beaver Creek, he was the Tournament Director. He was most proud of giving golf lessons and seeing the joy it gave to all those he taught. His love for golf has been passed down to so many in the golf community.
